Logo generators

Creating a design from scratch is pretty intimidating if you don’t know what you’re doing. Especially when it’s going to represent your entire business!

Don’t fear the blank page. And don’t go straight to hiring a designer to do it for you either. You might want to consider these clever logo generator tools instead. They take your ideas and automatically turn them into a logo you’ll love.

Give this easy tool a few details – preferred colour, styles you like, what kind of symbols suit your business – and it’ll create a logo in just a few minutes.

Who’s it for?

Freelancers and small business owners that aren’t confident with design.

Good bits

  • Create your logo for free and only pay if you’re ready to download the package.
  • It’s really fast and surprisingly intelligent. You’ll get at least 5 logo options to choose from.
  • You don’t have to buy the designs they made earlier. You can edit font, colour, text size, background, and more later.

Not so good bits

  • If you don’t like any of the fonts or colours, you’re probably not going to like what Logomaster creates.
  • If you shopped around, a designer could give you something more unique and creative for the same (or a better) price.

Prices: Basic logo – £20. Premium – £59. Enterprise – £168.

The basic package isn’t bad, but you only get a PNG file and you can’t edit your logo later. For £59 you get PNG, SVG, PDF, and EPS files, resizable vectors, readymade social media assets and brand guidelines. The most expensive package gives you a few more options, including retouching from an actual designer.

Struggle to translate your thoughts into a design? It’s tough but you’re not alone. Just like Logomaster, you can create a surprisingly professional logo with Logojoy by just choosing the colours, fonts, and styles you like.

Who’s it for?

Freelancers and small business owners that want a quick, professional logo.

Good bits

  • Design for free and decide if you’re going to pay for the download later.
  • There are quite a lot of options to choose from, giving you a better chance of creating something that works for your business.
  • If you pay for Premium, you have all the rights to the logo. It’s yours!

Not so good bits

  • The Basic package is just a low resolution file to show to a designer, which is basically an expensive version of doing a quick sketch. You might not want to bother.
  • You have to make an account before it lets you fiddle with the design tool.

Created by Shopify, Hatchful is a smart and simple logo design tool. It’s completely free, whether you already use Shopify or not. You might be looking out for a catch somewhere, but there isn’t! Just free, stylish logos sent straight to your email address.

Who’s it for?

Freelancers and business owners who care about design, but don’t have time to roll their sleeves up themselves.

Good bits

  • Hatchful asks more probing questions than other logo tools – what kind of business is it, where will the logo appear, what’s your visual style etc.
  • Varied designs with a modern, minimalist feel.
  • Includes pre-sized profile pictures and banners for social media.

Not so good bits

  • The editing tools are a bit limited. You can only change fonts, colours, and add symbols.

Wix Logo Maker

Wix’s logo building tool is a bit like the Tinder of logo design. It gives you existing logos to choose between to get an idea of your style, then shows you what it would look like on desktop, mobile, and even a gift bag.

Who’s it for?

Business owners and freelancers

Good bits

  • Wix websites are easy to customise and so is their logo maker. Adjust fonts, sizes, colours, and more.
  • If you think their images and icons are a bit ‘meh’, you can upload your own.
  • You don’t need a Wix site to use their logo maker.

Not so good bits

  • The design suggestions are still a bit plain and basic, so you need to make the best of the editing tools.
